The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs - Matauri Bay, New Zealand
- Preferred Access Club
Kauri Cliffs features 18 holes of spectacular golf with 15 holes having views of the Pacific Ocean, 6 of which are played alongside cliffs that plunge to the sea. Both the Cavalli Islands and Cape Brett provide additional backdrop. The course is ranked in the world’s top 100.
Kauri Cliffs was designed and built by David Harman. The par-72 course measures 7,119 yards. What makes this course so stunning is that it was designed to naturally encompass the land it around it. The inland holes wind through marsh, forest and farmland. The golf complex includes a large practice range, putting and chipping greens, a well-stocked golf shop, and ladies' and men's locker rooms.
The course is attached to The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs, a luxury Relais & Chateaux Lodge featuring 22 suites and a two-bedroom Owner's Cottage. The property has three private beaches with multiple activities available. It is located at the northern edge of New Zealand's North Island, perched on a cliffside overlooking the Pacific and flanked by four thousand acres of rolling hilly farmland. Though it is perhaps best known for its world-class golf course, the resort's strengths are its remoteness and its grand elegance.
